SURVIVAL ENGLISH consists of the words and phrases encountered in daily situations. We will practice the Who? What? Where? When? and Why? of newfound survival vocabulary. Although students come in all age groups, our workshop focuses on classroom language that would be used by school-aged students. Phrases that revolve around rules, leisure activities, giving, and following instructions will be the initial focus of our workshop but participants will be encouraged to explore survival language that will be most beneficial to their worldly experiences. For example, a long-term English Language Learner may choose to immerse themselves in language appropriated by their cultural surroundings. On the other hand, students may choose to learn SURVIVAL language to comprehend words and phrases associated with daily shopping, filling out applications, making appointments, and paying bills.
